Pretty Flowers :)

Right, so I was stumbling the craft blogs, as I do, when I came across one of the prettiest things I've wanted to make in a long time. This is the first time I've plugged a craft blog on my own blog, so it must be good, right?

It's called Oh Happy Day and she made a pretty flower garland out of wire and crepe paper.

I think it may have been because I went into a shop that day and it was full of flowers that I so wanted to buy but I told myself it would be a waste of money and I don't have anything to put them in anyway; seeing this post made me feel happy. So I wanted to make some flowers too.

And then I remembered something Mummy taught me when I was little. We used to get tissues in all different colours, and she taught us to make them into flowers using an elastic band. But I didn't have any tissues and anyways I haven't seen a box in all different colours for years, so I decided to make some flowers using toilet paper.

Take two squares and separate the layers, then you have four squares. Put them on top of each other at different angles, then pinch in the middle. In the old days with the proper tissues, we would have put the elastic band around where we pinched it, but this time I just twisted it to make it hold shape.

I didn't like them not being colourful, so I found an empty spray bottle and filled it with water, then I added a little bit of children's paint and shook it up. Spray spray spray onto my flowers and let them dry.

Then after they were dry (the next day) I found some green pipe cleaners for the stems and twisted them around the bases of my flowers. I put two flowers on each stem (for efficiency) and folded them in half. Then I pulled the petals down to make them look a bit more flower shaped.

Then I wrapped the pipe cleaners around each other for stability and I put them all into a vase.

Now I has flowers :) and the best part is that they're not gonna die and fall apart and start to look less pretty.
